Overview

Running a Magma Mode allows you to earn network fees (gas) for helping secure the network.

You can run a Docker based Node yourself or you can participate with others in a Liquid Staking Pool.

Types of Nodes

When it comes to interacting with the Magma network, you have the option to:

  1. Run a full Node
  2. Run an Archive Node.
  3. Run an Application Node.

You aren't required to bond a Node to use it simply to verify transactions. However, if you want to earn rewards for helping to secure the network, you must bond a Node.

Hardware Requirements

Minimum hardware configuration required to operate a Full Node:

  • RAM: 8-16 GB
  • CPU: 2-4 core CPU (For AWS: t3 xLarge)

Storage:

Magma: 400GB SSD for a node, growing at ~40GB per month

Bonding

In order to run a Node you must obtain LAVA. LAVA is fundamental to the Magma Network. LAVA is a composite liquid restaked coin forged at the Magma Bridge.

Submit LAVA to the validator contract to provision keys which allow you to activate your Node. Once activated you will enter the queue to begin receiving rewards.

In order to collect your rewards, your Node must exit the network, at which time you can unbond and also claim your rewards.
